End of Arts Management module.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 7:36 AM

Whoa. Arts Management is over.
Hard to believe.
Challenging 15 weeks, but I've definitely learnt ALOT.

I had learnt that in order to fully understand the rigors of this field,
it is important to first understand the basics such as the changing trend of the arts environment.

I had also realised the importance of inspiring members in the organization,
strategic planning, and career sensitivity, understanding their needs, attaining communication basics, perfecting financial planning, maximizing audiences to be able to achieve more.

This module had also taught me to focus on strengthening the economic infrastructures
and nurturing a skilled workforce to only be able to reach our objective
as being a first-world economy.
From my objective, I had also learnt to
take into consideration trends and developments in the local and global context
such as the increasingly new vibrant entertainment and arts ecosystem
and how they can benefit me,
as an arts manager in the future.

This module also helped showed me that
although organizational patterns are essential (From Entrepreneurship module last sem),
they do tend to lapse into habitual behavior patterns,
which becomes the norm and there would not be much innovation.
Thus, I have to make sure to keep an eye
on the formal and informal structure and have careful intercession.

Lastly, they taught me about how to apply all these fundamentals
that I have learnt onto the main factor, my audience.
As audiences always would be renewed depending on the changing social habits,
I have to be able to provide the experience
that satisfies regular attendees and giving newcomers the information
and the care to ensure that they come back for more.

This module had truly helped me seen
what my future career would somehow be like
and what to expect from it,
and also the possible hurdles that may come with it.

Thank you.

P.S. Thanks Zul and Anthony. Both of you have been wonderful. :) Thank you for your patience and for guiding us for 15 weeks. All the best for your future endeavors! Take care.

3 more to go.

xoxo.

L'esperienza de questa dolce vita
Ello, the name’s Sherena.
I’m Nineteen this year & am lovin’ it.
I’m a Cancerian.
Imma bookworm.
I close ranks in suspicion & coldness toward outsiders.
That doesn’t mean I’m unsociable, just that for me, there is a time to socialize and a time to be solitary.
I’m appreciative of art and literature, and especially of drama, where the spectacle and ebb and flow of action and feeling particularly excite me.
I have a retentive memory, particularly for emotionally laden events which I can still recall in detail for years afterwards.
I’m too easily influenced by those I love and admire, & can be swayed by the emotion of the moment.

I am never one to patiently pick up
already broken fragments & glue em back together again
& tell myself that everything would be as good as new.
What is broken is broken - and I'd rather remember it
as it was at it's very best than try to mend it
& see the broken pieces as long as I lived.

Love is what all of us are born with.
Fear is what we learn throughout the years.
I believe that the spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear & prejudices
& the acceptance of pure love back in our hearts.
Love is truly the essential reality and our purpose in life.

And to be consciously aware of it,
to really take the risk,
give our all and experience love in ourselves & others,
is the real meaning of life.

Meaning does not lie in things.
Meaning lies in us.
